I highly recommend it. It was pretty straight forward and fun to do. Make sure you have a good firewall though. I was very surprised how many auto port scans were hitting the router, esp. from China and Poland. What's up with that? Also turn off all the services that you don't need on the Linux server. And make sure you use ssh and sftp if you are going to do anything to it from a remote location like say from your cube prison.
